RUSSIA - SAINT VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES
The diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines were established on September 17, 2002.
On August 29, 2011 H.E. Nikolay D.Smirnov, non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, presented Letters of Credence to H.E. Sir Frederick Ballantyne, Governor General of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
The two countries interact actively on multilateral and bilateral levels, have coincidence of views on international issues and realize exchange of personal messages on high level. On 26th October, 2009 the Protocol of intentions on political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Commerce and Trade of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines was signed to enhance political cooperation.
With the aim to develop bilateral economic ties the two countries presently explore business opportunities in different fields such as tourism, infrastructure, transport, scientific and technical cooperation.
Since the year 2008 the Government of the Russian Federation annually grants the Vincentians scholarships for complete course of higher education in Russian Universities. Ten students in 2012 were accepted to the People’s Friendship University in Moscow.
During International Film Festival, organized on the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of Independence of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in November – December 2009, Russian movies were shown.
The official ceremony of handing over of medical equipment to the Central Hospital in Kingstown, St.Vincent and the Grenadines as a gift of the Government of the Russian Federation.
(February 14, 2014) The official ceremony of handing over of medical equipment to the Central Hospital in Kingstown, St.Vincent and the Grenadines as a gift of the Government of the Russian Federation. The cost of the equipment produced in the City of Ekaterinburg is over 100 000 US Dollars.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon.Camillo Gonsalves highly appreciated this gift of the Russian Government calling it a solid investment into the future of the country.
Minister of Health, Wellness and the environment the Hon. Clayton Burgin noted this unique equipment, speedy work of Russian specialists from Ekaterinburg who set up the equipment and who in the shortest time taught the medical personnel of the Hospital to operate it.
