NEW RUSAL PROJECT IN GUYANA

On March 11, 2015 United Company RUSAL has officially launched the bauxite mine Kurubuka-22 in Guyana. More than US $25 mln. were invested to start this 30 million ton deposit project.
Ambassador of the Russian Federation H.E. Nikolay Smirnov, the Chief Executive Officer of RUSAL Mr.Soloviev, Managing Director of the Bauxite Company of Guyana Inc. Mr.Kostyuk, President of Guyana H.E.Donald Ramotar, senior government officials, members of the village council of neighboring Hururu village were present at the commissioning of the new project.
President of Guyana H.E. Donald Ramotar praised RUSAL for being steadfast in its determination to expand its operations in the country despite the many challenges. Investments such as these made by the company laid the foundations for a better life, not only for the neighboring communities of Kwakwani and Hururu, but for all Guyanese, - the President noted.
CEO of RUSAL Mr.Soloviev noted that BCGI is strategically important asset for RUSAL and Kurubuka-22 is realized within the framework of the company’s strategy to provide aluminum production security with its own supplies. The bauxite from the new project will secure resources for the alumina refineries of the company for many years.
